Conferences and exhibitions

I was asked to cover innovations in membrane cleaning. It was a well-attended session and resulted in some intense debate afterwards. If you would like to view the webinar please contact marmstrong@genesysro.com.

As I learnt from my very first membrane conference nearly ten years ago, the sharing of knowledge and experience at events like this is critical for the development of our industry.

The Aquatech exhibition in Amsterdam this November featured 850 exhibitors and attracted over 18,000 visitors. Like other recent large events, we found it was a great place to meet other suppliers and people we already know, but plant operators and people looking for help were thin on the ground. I wonder if this is partly due to the power of the internet. People looking for a solution to a problem will often find answers online, or at least the details of someone who can help, without the need to travel to an exhibition. I know we’ve received 1,642 unique enquiries through our website this year so far.

The Aquastage, located in Hall 2, hosted 28 speakers. Each day had a different theme – Smart Water Networks, Desalination, Innovation then Water & Energy. The European Desalination Society organised the Desalination day, with talks from Maria Kennedy on algal blooms and membrane-based desalination and Jan Schippers on fouling and pre-treatment in seawater reverse osmosis.
