Conferences and exhibitions update

In February Ted Darton and I exhibited and presented at the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA)/American Water Works Association (AWWA) conference in San Antonio Texas. This is a major event in our calendar and attracted over 1,000 attendees. The paper on predictive membrane cleaning created some lively debate.

Earlier this month I also attended the 1st International Conference on Desalination using Membrane Technology, in Sitges, Spain, along with Matt Armstrong, Nuria Pena and Rachel Wilson. I presented a paper entitled ‘Comparison of commodity and speciality cleaners for RO membranes and benefits of early cleaning’ and Nuria spoke about reverse osmosis membrane damage detected in autopsies. The inaugural conference proved to be a great success and we wish the Elsevier team who co-ordinated it all the best for future events.

Meanwhile David Golding was exhibiting at WETEX Dubai, from 15-17 April. This massive event featured over 1,000 exhibitors from 30 different countries. There was lots of deep debate at WETEX about on-going red tide algal blooms, which are causing major problems. This has prompted us to speed up our development of a new range of flocculants for launch later this year.
